Of course, the year I set my sights on running the Broad Street Run, participants will be chosen by a lottery. The popularity of this race is super crazy. Last year there were 34,000 runners, selling out in just 5 hours! In order to avoid computers crashing and burning, the lottery opened yesterday and will run through February 15th.
What’s a runner to do? Well….guess what?! There’s a way to avoid the lottery and it doesn’t involve bootleg bibs or selling my first born. Turns out, you can fundraise for an associated charity and obtain a bib. What a brilliant idea! I am thrilled to be a member of the DetermiNation Team, and will be fundraising for the American Cancer Society, a cause near and dear to my heart. The outpouring of support from my family and friends has been overwhelming. Even the boys at school got inspired to help, bringing in donations from their piggy banks and organizing a bake sale. With everyone’s help, I have surpassed my goal! I will be running on Broad Street in memory and honor of all those who have been affected by this disease. I didn’t win the lottery, but it sure feels like I’m the luckiest person alive!
LOVE MY STUDENTS!
